Skin Rejuvenation in Amman: Setting a Realistic Expectation
By Dr. Qusai Shakhatreh ·

Skin rejuvenation is a category rather than a treatment. It covers resurfacing, injectables, biostimulators and energy devices, and they do different things to different layers of the skin.
A realistic consultation separates three questions that are often run together. What is the concern — texture, pigmentation, laxity, volume, or lines? How much of it is sun damage versus genetics versus ageing? And what is the patient's actual tolerance for downtime? A person who cannot miss a week of work is not a candidate for the treatment that needs ten days, however good the result would be.
Combinations are often sensible, but they should be sequenced rather than stacked. Several resurfacing treatments in the same month is not thoroughness; it is a compromised skin barrier and a higher risk of pigment change, particularly in the pigmented skin types common in this region.
The last point is the one a good clinician will raise first: a treatment that is aggressive on a lighter skin type can cause lasting pigment change on a deeper one. Skin type is not a detail, and the plan should reflect it.
