Sexual Health & STI Care in Amman
Confidential Dermatology Assessment for Sexually Transmitted Infections and Genital Skin Concerns
Confidential care. Diagnosis first. Treatment based on the specific infection.
Genital symptoms can have several causes, and not every rash, ulcer, wart or discharge is a sexually transmitted infection (STI). A confidential medical assessment helps identify the problem before treatment is started.
At Nova Derma, we evaluate and manage many common sexually transmitted infections and genital skin conditions. When laboratory testing is needed, it is performed through an external laboratory.
Not Every STI Causes Symptoms
Some sexually transmitted infections can be present without obvious symptoms. Others can cause discharge, burning with urination, genital sores, itching, pain, rash or visible growths.
The need for testing depends on symptoms, examination, sexual history, exposure risk and the infection being considered. A genital rash can also be something other than an STI: dermatitis, fungal infection, folliculitis and other skin conditions can affect the genital area and may resemble one.
A confidential assessment is the first step in deciding whether testing or treatment is needed.
Conditions We Assess & Treat, and Where We Refer
Genital warts are usually caused by certain types of human papillomavirus (HPV). Diagnosis is often clinical, but an atypical, pigmented, ulcerated, bleeding or diagnostically uncertain lesion may need biopsy rather than routine destruction.
No single treatment is best for every genital wart. Choice depends on the number, size, location, previous treatment and clinical assessment. Treatment may include prescription topical treatment in selected patients, cryotherapy with liquid nitrogen, electrosurgery or surgical CO₂ laser treatment for selected lesions.
Common Conditions We Assess & Manage
- Genital warts / HPV-related warts
- Genital herpes
- Syphilis
- Gonorrhea
- Chlamydia
- Trichomoniasis
- Urethritis or genital discharge
- Genital ulcers or sores
- Genital molluscum contagiosum
- Other genital rashes or lesions that may mimic an STI
Not Treated as Core Nova Derma Services
- HIV — referral only, to the appropriate specialist or dedicated service
- Hepatitis B — referral only, to the appropriate specialist or dedicated service
- Hepatitis C — referral only, to the appropriate specialist or dedicated service
Genital Herpes
Genital herpes can cause painful blisters or ulcers, although symptoms vary and some infections are mild or unrecognized. External laboratory testing may be recommended when confirmation is needed. Antiviral treatment can treat episodes and, in selected patients, reduce the frequency of recurrences. Treatment controls the infection but does not eliminate herpes virus from the body.
Syphilis
Syphilis can cause genital ulcers, rash and other manifestations, but it can also be asymptomatic. Diagnosis usually relies on clinical assessment together with serologic testing. When syphilis is suspected, blood testing is arranged externally, and treatment and follow-up depend on the stage of infection and test results. Sex partners may also need evaluation and treatment depending on the diagnosis and timing of exposure.
Gonorrhea, Chlamydia & Trichomoniasis
These infections can cause discharge, burning with urination and genital or pelvic symptoms, but they can also be asymptomatic. Appropriate external laboratory testing is used when indicated, and treatment is selected according to the specific infection and current medical guidance. Partner evaluation and treatment are important for several common STIs to reduce reinfection.
What About HIV and Viral Hepatitis?
HIV, hepatitis B and hepatitis C may be identified during sexual-health evaluation or testing, but their ongoing treatment is outside Nova Derma’s core service scope. Testing, when indicated, is performed externally, and patients with suspected or confirmed HIV, hepatitis B or hepatitis C are directed to the appropriate specialist or dedicated service. This is a referral-only pathway, not a service offered here.
Treatment removes visible warts; it does not eradicate HPV itself, and recurrence can occur.
When Should You Seek Prompt Medical Assessment?
- A new genital ulcer or painful sore
- New genital discharge or burning with urination
- A rapidly spreading or painful genital rash
- New genital warts or growths
- Testicular pain or significant swelling
- Pelvic pain, fever or feeling systemically unwell
- Pregnancy with possible STI exposure or symptoms
Severe pelvic pain, severe testicular pain, high fever or feeling acutely unwell may require urgent medical or emergency assessment rather than waiting for a routine clinic visit.
Laboratory testing is arranged externally

Sexual Health & STI FAQ
Is the consultation confidential?
Yes. Sexual-health concerns are assessed confidentially and professionally.
Do all STIs cause symptoms?
No. Several common STIs can be asymptomatic, so testing may be recommended based on exposure risk even when symptoms are absent.
Do you have an STI laboratory at Nova Derma?
No. When testing is required, it is performed through an external laboratory.
Do you treat genital warts?
Yes. Depending on the lesion, treatment may include prescription topical therapy, cryotherapy, electrosurgery or surgical CO₂ laser.
Does removing genital warts cure HPV?
No. Treatment removes visible warts but does not eradicate the underlying HPV infection, and recurrence can occur.
Do you treat genital herpes?
Yes. Antiviral treatment may be used for episodes and suppressive treatment may be considered in selected patients. The virus is not eliminated from the body.
Do you treat gonorrhea, chlamydia, syphilis or trichomoniasis?
Yes. These common treatable STIs can be evaluated and managed, with external laboratory testing when clinically indicated.
Do you treat HIV or hepatitis B or C?
No. These infections are not core Nova Derma services. Patients who need management of HIV, hepatitis B or hepatitis C are referred to the appropriate specialist or dedicated service.
Should my partner be treated too?
For several STIs, partners need evaluation, testing or treatment to reduce transmission and reinfection.
Can a genital rash be something other than an STI?
Yes. Dermatitis, fungal infection, folliculitis and other skin conditions can affect the genital area and may resemble an STI.
Need Confidential Sexual Health or STI Care?
If you have a genital rash, wart, ulcer, discharge, possible exposure or another sexual-health concern, a confidential consultation can help determine whether the problem is an STI or another genital skin condition and what testing or treatment is appropriate.
