Acne Treatment in Amman

Advanced Acne Treatment & Comprehensive Dermatology Care

The acne type chooses the treatment — not the device.

Acne is diagnosed before it is treated. A dermatologist establishes whether the acne is inflammatory, comedonal, hormonal or drug-related, and builds the plan from that — not from the device the clinic happens to own.

Conservative treatment. Gradual settling.

Why Acne Treatment Starts With the Diagnosis

Most acne begins with the hair follicle and the skin around it: excess oil, a tendency to block, and the bacteria that live in it. How it presents — and how it responds — depends on the type, the skin, the hormones and, sometimes, a medication.
That is why the first visit is an assessment rather than a procedure. The dermatologist looks at what is actually there, asks what has been tried and how long it was tolerated, and only then decides what to do about it.
Some acne needs a daily medication. Some does not. Some patients are better served by a laser option that removes the daily routine from the plan entirely. The plan follows the diagnosis in every case.

The diagnosis comes before the treatment.

Am I a Candidate for Acne Treatment?

The answer depends on the type of acne, the skin and what is safe alongside any medication you are already taking.

Treatment may suit you if

  • You have persistent or recurring acne despite a reasonable course of over-the-counter care
  • You would rather not take — or continue — daily medication
  • You have scarring or post-inflammatory marks alongside active acne
  • Your acne is triggered or worsened by a factor that can be addressed
  • You want a plan that includes what to do between appointments

Treatment may need to be modified or postponed if there is

  • An active infection in the treatment area
  • A recent procedure or peel in the same area
  • A medication that makes the skin photosensitive
  • A pregnancy that changes what is safe to use
  • A condition your dermatologist wants to treat first

Skin tone matters

Some devices work on every skin tone, others need a lower setting and longer intervals on deeper skin. This is part of the assessment, not an afterthought.

Sometimes the best decision is to treat the trigger rather than the spot.

What Happens During an Acne Consultation?

The first visit is about establishing the diagnosis and a plan you can actually follow.

  1. Skin and medical assessment

The dermatologist examines the acne, its distribution and its depth, and reviews the medication, products and history behind it.

    • Current and previous medication
    • Hormonal factors and recent changes
    • What has been tried, and for how long
  2. The type of acne is established

Inflammatory, comedonal, hormonal or drug-related. The type decides which treatments are worth trying and which are not.

  3. A plan is written

What is used, in what order, and what it is expected to do. A laser-only plan is a legitimate plan; so is a combination.

  4. Review and adjustment

The plan is reviewed after the expected response window, not after a fixed number of weeks.

    • Temporary dryness or flaking in the first days
    • Mild flushing that settles within the session
  • When will I see the result?

Skin texture improves before the acne does. The plan is judged on the response window, not on the first week.

  • How many sessions will I need?

It depends on the type, the severity and how the skin responds. A number given before the first assessment is a guess.

  • How long does it last?

A course usually leaves the skin in better condition than it started, but acne can recur, which is why the maintenance plan matters as much as the course.

What Acne Treatment Can Include

A plan is a combination where it needs to be, and a single option where that is enough.

  • Topical retinoids to keep the follicle clear over the long term
  • Anti-inflammatory treatment for active lesions
  • AviClear® — a 308 nm excimer laser cleared for moderate to severe acne
  • Hormonal management where the pattern points that way
  • Scar and post-acne mark treatment once the active acne is under control

A device that treats acne without a daily routine exists, and it is not the right answer for everyone. That is the conversation the consultation is for.

Medication or Laser: Which Comes First?

Both are legitimate answers to the same diagnosis. The difference is the daily routine and what you want the next year to look like.

Medication or Laser: Which Comes First?
What you seeUsually means
You forget the cream within two weeks

Adherence is the limiting factor, not the treatment

You are applying something twice a day, indefinitely

A maintenance routine you will not sustain

You have tried retinoids and they were intolerable

A local option is worth discussing

You want the option that can be stopped

A course-based plan rather than a daily one

The right answer is the one you will actually follow. Both are offered at Nova Derma; only one of them is yours.

Acne Treatment FAQ

The questions that come up most often at the first consultation.

How long does acne treatment take to work?

Skin texture usually changes within a few weeks. Active acne is judged over months, because the skin's turnover sets the pace. A plan is reviewed on that timeline, not on a weekly one.

Can I stop treatment once my acne clears?

Not immediately. Acne is a condition that recurs, and the maintenance plan is what keeps it away. How much maintenance you need depends on your skin and your history.

Does laser treatment work on deeper skin tones?

It depends on the device. AviClear® at 308 nm is not melanin-dependent, so it is used across skin types. Other lasers need a lower setting and longer intervals. This is part of the assessment.

Will treatment help with the marks my acne leaves?

Often, yes, and treatment is easier while the acne is still active. Deep, longstanding scars respond differently, and that is worth discussing before you start.

Bring a list of what you have tried. It is the most useful thing you can bring.
