Laser Hair Removal in Amman

Long-Term Hair Reduction With Candela GentleLase Pro®

Laser hair removal can significantly reduce unwanted hair and make regrowth progressively finer, slower and less noticeable over time.

At Nova Derma, laser hair removal is performed using Candela GentleLase Pro® 755 nm Alexandrite laser, with treatment settings selected according to skin pigmentation, hair color and thickness, treatment area and previous response.

The goal is progressive long-term hair reduction — not a promise that every hair will disappear permanently.

Why Candela GentleLase Pro®?

GentleLase Pro® uses a 755 nm Alexandrite laser that targets melanin within the hair follicle. The system also incorporates Candela's Dynamic Cooling Device™ to cool the skin during treatment.

The device matters, but appropriate patient selection and appropriate settings matter just as much.

How Laser Hair Removal Works

Laser energy is absorbed by pigment in the hair and converted to heat within the follicle, reducing its ability to produce future hair.

Because only a proportion of hairs are in the active growth phase at any one time, laser hair removal requires a series of treatments rather than one session.

What usually changes over a treatment course?
Less visible hair
Slower regrowth
Finer regrowth
Longer intervals before hair becomes noticeable
Reduced need for shaving or other temporary hair-removal methods

Some patients later need occasional maintenance sessions, particularly in hormonally influenced areas.

Which Hair Responds Best?

  • Dark, Clearly Pigmented Hair

Alexandrite laser generally responds best when the hair contains enough pigment for the laser to target. Dark, coarse or clearly pigmented hair is usually the most suitable.

  • Fine Facial Hair

Very fine or lightly pigmented facial hair responds less reliably and should be assessed carefully before treatment. Not every fine facial hair pattern is suitable for laser.

  • Blonde, Grey or White Hair

Hair with very little or no pigment usually responds poorly because there is insufficient melanin for the laser to target.

The best results begin with treating the right hair — not simply treating every visible hair.

Treatment Areas

  • Face

Upper lip, chin, jawline, sideburns and selected facial areas. Fine facial hair is assessed carefully before treatment.

  • Underarms

Often responds well because the hair is commonly darker and coarser.

  • Bikini Area

Treatment may range from a limited bikini line to broader removal according to patient preference.

  • Arms & Legs

Treatment planning depends on hair density, thickness and visible regrowth.

  • Back & Chest

The plan is adjusted according to the density and distribution of hair.

  • Full-Body Laser Hair Removal

Multiple areas can be treated in the same session, while response is still assessed separately for each area.

How Often Are Sessions Performed?

Treatment timing depends on the body area and the visible return of hair. Typical starting intervals may be:

How Often Are Sessions Performed?
AreaTypical starting interval
Face

Approximately 4–6 weeks

Underarms & bikini

Approximately 4–8 weeks

Arms, legs, back & chest

Approximately 4–10 weeks

As regrowth becomes slower and less dense, later sessions may be spaced further apart. The next session should follow hair regrowth and treatment response rather than a rigid calendar.

Before Your Laser Hair Removal Session

  • Shave the treatment area as instructed before the appointment
  • Avoid waxing, threading, sugaring or epilating beforehand because the hair follicle needs to remain present
  • Avoid significant tanning or sunburn in the treatment area
  • Tell the clinic about recent medications, skin irritation, infection or procedures in the area

Why shaving instead of waxing?
Shaving removes the visible part of the hair but leaves the follicle in place. Waxing, threading, sugaring and epilating pull the hair from the follicle and can interfere with the next laser treatment.

During & After Treatment

  • During Treatment

GentleLase Pro® delivers laser energy to the hair follicle while the Dynamic Cooling Device™ helps cool the skin. Sensation varies by area and hair density and may feel like brief heat or snapping.

  • Immediately After Treatment

    These effects usually settle gradually.

    • Temporary redness around the follicles
    • Mild swelling around treated follicles
    • Warmth or sensitivity
  • When Does the Hair Shed?

Treated hairs do not necessarily disappear on the day of the session. Many gradually shed from the follicle over the following days to weeks.

  • Aftercare

    • Avoid unnecessary heat, friction or aggressive exfoliation if the skin is sensitive
    • Use sun protection on exposed treated areas
    • Do not pick or scratch irritated skin
    • Use shaving rather than waxing, threading, sugaring or epilating between sessions

Who Is a Good Candidate?

Laser hair removal may suit you if

  • You have dark or clearly pigmented unwanted hair
  • You rely on frequent shaving or other temporary hair removal
  • You have ingrown hairs or shaving-related irritation
  • You have unwanted facial or body hair you would like to reduce long term
  • You have realistic expectations about progressive reduction rather than complete permanent removal

When Should Treatment Be Postponed?

  • Recent significant sun exposure or tanning
  • Sunburn
  • Active infection or significant inflammation in the treatment area
  • Open wounds or irritated skin
  • A recent procedure that has not fully healed
  • A medication or medical condition that may affect treatment safety

Skin tone matters

Because GentleLase Pro® uses a 755 nm Alexandrite wavelength, skin pigmentation is an important part of treatment planning. Recently tanned or more deeply pigmented skin requires particular caution, and laser treatment may need to be postponed or reconsidered if the skin cannot be treated safely.

Pregnancy

Elective laser hair removal is generally postponed during pregnancy.

Hormonal hair growth

Laser can reduce visible hair, but it does not treat an underlying hormonal cause. New, rapidly increasing or unusually distributed facial or body hair may need medical assessment in addition to laser treatment.

Laser Hair Removal FAQ

How many sessions will I need?

There is no fixed number. The total depends on the treatment area, hair density and thickness, hormonal influences and individual response.

Is laser hair removal permanent?

The medically accurate goal is long-term hair reduction rather than guaranteed permanent removal of every hair. Occasional maintenance may be needed.

Should I shave before treatment?

Yes. The area should generally be shaved as instructed while waxing, threading, sugaring and epilating are avoided.

Can I wax between sessions?

No. Removing the hair from the follicle can interfere with the next laser session. Shaving is preferred.

Is laser hair removal painful?

Sensation varies. Patients may feel brief heat or snapping, and GentleLase Pro® uses Dynamic Cooling Device™ technology to cool the skin during treatment.

Can laser treat facial hair?

Yes, when the hair is suitable. Dark, clearly pigmented facial hair generally responds better than very fine or lightly pigmented hair.

Does laser help ingrown hairs?

Reducing coarse hair growth can also reduce shaving-related irritation and ingrown hairs in suitable patients.

Will I need maintenance?

Some patients need occasional maintenance as new or previously inactive hairs appear, especially in hormonally influenced areas.

Can laser treat blonde, grey or white hair?

Response is usually poor because these hairs contain little or no melanin for the laser to target.

Considering Laser Hair Removal?

Whether you want to reduce unwanted hair on the face, underarms, bikini, arms, legs, back, chest or multiple body areas, the treatment plan should be built around your hair characteristics, skin pigmentation and previous response.

At Nova Derma, laser hair removal is performed using Candela GentleLase Pro® 755 nm Alexandrite laser, with treatment settings adjusted individually throughout the treatment course.

Successful laser hair removal is a process of progressive reduction — not a one-session treatment.
