Dark Circles, Hollowness, Fine Lines & Tired-Looking Eyes
Under-Eye Treatment in Amman
The under-eye area can look tired for very different reasons. Dark circles, hollowing, fine lines, thin or crepey skin and puffiness are not the same problem — and they should not all receive the same treatment.
At Nova Derma, treatment begins by identifying what is actually causing the concern.
Dark Circles
Pigmentation, vascular visibility or shadowing can all contribute.
Under-Eye Hollowness
Volume loss or tear-trough anatomy can create shadows and a tired appearance.
Fine Lines & Crepey Skin
Thin skin and reduced skin quality may benefit from skin-rejuvenation treatments.
Puffiness & Eye Bags
These require careful assessment because adding filler is not always appropriate.
Treatment options may include
RRS® Eyes
Salmon DNA (PDRN)
Selected Skin-Rejuvenation Injectables
Tear-Trough Filler in Appropriate Patients
Other Skin Treatments
The treatment is selected according to the cause of the under-eye concern, anatomy and skin quality.
Not Every Dark Circle Needs Filler
A dark under-eye area may be caused by pigmentation, thin skin, visible vessels, hollowing, shadowing, puffiness — or several of these together.
Filler may improve shadowing from true hollowness in selected patients, but it will not correct every type of dark circle and can be unsuitable when significant puffiness or fluid retention is present.
First identify why the eye looks tired — then choose the treatment.
The same “dark circle” can have very different causes
What Causes Dark Circles & Tired-Looking Eyes?
1. Pigmentation
Brown or grey-brown discoloration may come from increased pigment in the skin.
2. Thin Skin & Visible Vessels
The under-eye skin is naturally thin, so underlying vessels can create a blue, purple or darker appearance.
3. Hollowness & Shadowing
A tear-trough depression or loss of support can create a shadow that makes the area look dark even when there is little actual pigmentation.
4. Fine Lines & Crepey Skin
Reduced hydration, elasticity and skin quality can make the under-eye area look thin, wrinkled or tired.
5. Puffiness & Eye Bags
Prominent fat pads, swelling or fluid retention can create bags and shadows beneath the eyes. In these patients, adding filler may sometimes make the area look heavier rather than better.
More than one cause is common
A patient may have pigmentation + hollowness + thin skin, or puffiness + shadowing + fine lines.
The treatment should match the cause — not simply the appearance of a dark circle.
The treatment depends on what is actually causing the concern
Which Under-Eye Treatment Is Right for Me?
RRS® Eyes
May be considered when the main concern is fine lines, thin or crepey skin, and overall under-eye skin quality.
Salmon DNA (PDRN)
Used as a regenerative skin-rejuvenation option when the goal is to support skin quality, texture and the appearance of tired-looking under-eyes.
Selected Skin-Rejuvenation Injectables
Other injectable skin treatments may be considered when the main issue is hydration, elasticity or early skin-quality changes.
Tear-Trough Filler
Hyaluronic-acid filler may be appropriate when true hollowness or loss of support is creating shadowing beneath the eyes. It is not suitable for every patient.
When Filler May Not Be the Best Choice
- Significant puffiness or eye bags
- Fluid retention
- Very thin skin
- Previous problematic under-eye filler
- Little true hollowing
- A concern caused mainly by pigmentation rather than shadowing
In those cases a skin-rejuvenation treatment, a pigment-directed approach or simply avoiding filler may be more appropriate.
What About Dark Pigmentation?
If the darkness is primarily caused by pigment, filler or skin boosters will not directly remove the pigment. The treatment plan may instead focus on appropriate skin care, pigment-directed treatment or other procedures depending on the diagnosis.
Under-eye treatment should correct the cause — not simply add product to the area.
Conservative treatment. Gradual settling.
What to Expect From Under-Eye Treatment
Assessment
Your dermatologist assesses whether the main concern is pigmentation, hollowness, fine lines, crepey skin, puffiness or a combination.
Treatment
The treatment may involve RRS® Eyes, Salmon DNA (PDRN), selected skin-rejuvenation injectables, tear-trough filler or another approach, depending on the cause. Because the under-eye area is delicate, treatment is usually planned conservatively.
After Treatment
Temporary effects may include mild swelling, redness, tenderness, bruising, or small injection-site bumps with some skin-rejuvenation treatments. These usually improve gradually.
When Will I See the Result?
Tear-trough filler may produce an immediate change in contour, but swelling can affect the early appearance. Skin-rejuvenation treatments usually improve gradually over time.
Why Is a Conservative Approach Important?
The under-eye area has thin skin and limited space, so over-treatment can look heavy or unnatural. The goal is to improve the tired appearance without making the under-eye area look overfilled.
Am I a Candidate for Under-Eye Treatment?
Under-eye treatment may be suitable if you are concerned about hollowness, fine lines, crepey skin, dark circles or tired-looking eyes.
Treatment May Need to Be Modified or Postponed If There Is
- Significant puffiness or prominent eye bags
- Previous problematic under-eye filler
- Active infection or inflammation in the area
- Pregnancy or breastfeeding
- Significant swelling or fluid retention around the eyes
- A concern caused mainly by pigmentation rather than volume loss
Previous filler is particularly important to mention
Adding more product is not always the right solution.
Not Everyone With a Tear Trough Needs Filler
If the main problem is puffiness, thin skin or pigmentation, filler may provide little benefit or may make the area look heavier. In those cases, a skin-rejuvenation treatment, pigment-directed approach or simply avoiding filler may be more appropriate.
The best under-eye treatment is the one that matches the cause of the tired appearance.
Under-Eye Treatment FAQ
Can Under-Eye Filler Treat Dark Circles?
Only if the darkness is partly caused by hollowness and shadowing. If the main problem is pigmentation, visible vessels or puffiness, filler may not help.
What Is the Difference Between RRS® Eyes and Salmon DNA (PDRN)?
Both may be used for under-eye skin rejuvenation, but they are different treatments. RRS® Eyes focuses on under-eye skin quality, fine lines and crepey texture. Salmon DNA (PDRN) is used as a regenerative treatment to support skin quality and rejuvenation.
Can Under-Eye Treatment Help Fine Lines?
Yes. Selected skin-rejuvenation treatments may help improve fine lines, hydration and crepey texture. The treatment is chosen according to skin thickness, elasticity and the degree of change.
Will Under-Eye Filler Make Me Puffy?
It can in some patients. This is why filler should be used cautiously when there is pre-existing puffiness, eye bags or a tendency toward fluid retention.
How Long Does Swelling Last?
Mild swelling or bruising can occur after injectable treatment and usually improves gradually over the following days. The exact recovery depends on the treatment used and individual response.
How Many Sessions Will I Need?
That depends on the treatment. Skin-rejuvenation treatments such as RRS® Eyes or Salmon DNA (PDRN) may be planned as a series, while filler treatment is assessed differently. There is no fixed protocol for every patient.
When Will I See Results?
Filler may change the contour immediately, although the area needs time to settle. Skin-rejuvenation treatments generally improve more gradually.
What If I Already Have Under-Eye Filler?
Tell your dermatologist what was injected, when it was done and whether you experienced swelling or other problems. Existing filler should be assessed before deciding whether more treatment is appropriate.
Under-eye treatment starts with identifying what is creating the tired appearance.
Considering Under-Eye Treatment?
Dark circles, hollowness, fine lines and puffiness can look similar but often have different causes.
At Nova Derma, we first identify what is creating the tired appearance before deciding whether the best option is RRS® Eyes, Salmon DNA (PDRN), a skin-rejuvenation treatment, tear-trough filler or another approach.
